Yummy Beans

1 pound beans

2 cloves minced garlic

grated ginger equal in volume to minced garlic

Sesame oil or olive oil

1/3 cup sesame seeds

Salt or tamari to taste

Option A (beans are softer) Steam beans, then saute quickly in skillet or wok with oil garlic, ginger, and sesame seeds, add tamari or salt last.

Option B Start with raw beans in skillet or wok, add garlic, etc. when beans are most of the way cooked.

Fresh Summer Tomato Sauce

from The City Gardeners Cookbook

2 1/2 cups chopped tomatoes
3/4 cup chopped bell peppers
1 clove garlic minced
1/2 cup olive oil
3 teaspoons fresh oregano
1 Tablespoon chopped fresh basil
salt to taste

In a bowl, mix all the ingredients and let stand for at least 10 minutes.  Serve over toasted slices of crusty bread (Bruschetta), or over pasta.
